A Bug's life

This was a preliminary project using a "wet technique" with colored pencils. This project was to familiarize ourselves with the colored pencils and how the colors can be manipulated. The Prismacolor pencils that we used were much softer colored pencils than your typical classroom Crayola pencils. The softness enabled us to mix the colors, one on top of the other. If we properly carried out the technique, then the pores of the paper would be filled and the pencils would almost give a "painting" appearance.

I really enjoyed trying out this new medium, although it scared me a bit. The colored pencils are much less forgiving than the graphite pencils which I have grown accustomed to. The upcoming project is a "Google Doodle," so I guess we will see soon enough how well I do with this new technique!
